The New
Definitions of Tournament Formats for 2009
2 Person Best Ball: Each team will play their own ball. The best score is the score for that hole for the team. 4 Person Best Ball: All players play their own ball from tee to green 2 Person Scramble: All players tee off on every hole. Each team takes their partners best shot and plays from that point on every hole until the ball is holed out. Six drive Minimum per player. 6 Club maximum: All players play their own ball from tee to green with only 6 clubs in their bag. Blind Bogey: Everyone tees off and completes their rounds. Three holes on the front nine and three on the back are thrown out. The 12 holes remaining are added up, and that’s your score. Low score wins. Medal Play ( Individual) : All players play their own ball to post a final score
Cha Cha Cha: In the 4-Man Cha Cha Cha tournament format, each member of the team plays his or her ball throughout. But a 3-hole rotation exists for determining how many scores are used to create the team score. On the first hole (Cha), the one low ball counts as the team score. On the second hole (Cha Cha) , the two low balls count as the team score. On the third hole (Cha Cha Cha), the three low balls count as the team score. The rotation starts over on the fourth hole. Two drive minimum per player.
Money Ball: Each group of four players in a scramble has a ball that is marked in some way to designate it as the "money ball." That ball rotates among players. For example, Player A uses it on the first hole, B on the second, C on the third, D on the fourth, then back to A on the fifth and so on.
In The Money Ball game, two scores per hole are added together for the team score. Here's the catch: One of those two scores must be from the player with the money ball. So on each hole, the team score will be the score of the player with the money ball, plus the lowest score of the other three players that will be playing a Scramble. Each player in the Scramble format must use a minumum of 1 Drive
Shamble: A shamble is a type of golf tournament that combines elements of a scramble All members of a team (usually four) tee off and the best ball of the four tee shots is selected.
Select the best shot off the tee, move all balls to that spot, then play individual stroke play until each member of the group has holed out.The ONE CLUB LENGTH rule applies.
All players will play at 50% of their HDCP. Maximum HDCP is 36.
A 2 drive minimum per player is required.
Stableford (Modified Net): A Modified Stableford is a competition that employs the same principle - golfers are awarded points based on their performance on each hole, with the highest point total.
Double Eagle: 8 points - Eagle: 5 points - Birdie: 2 points - Par: 1 point
Chapman (Pinehurst) When the Chapman System (a k a Pinehurst System) is the format for a tournament, it means that 2-person teams will be competing. Chapman is really a melding of several formats into one. In a Chapman event, teammates switch balls after their tee shots, select the one best ball after their second shots, then play alternate shot until the ball is holed. Take the best drive and start switching shots from there.
